4 Days Central Serengeti & Great Migration Mid-Range Safari

After an early breakfast, the day begins with a morning game drive in Central Serengeti where predators are often most active during cooler hours. Your guide will help track wildlife movements, increasing chances of encountering lions on a hunt, cheetahs scanning the plains, or elephants moving slowly through the savannah landscape.

Following the morning game drive, you will proceed northward toward Northern Serengeti, a journey of approximately 120 km with extensive game viewing en route. The scenery gradually changes from open grasslands to rolling hills, riverine forests, and rocky kopjes which create diverse habitats supporting different animal species.

Northern Serengeti is the stage for the famous Mara River crossings, where massive herds gather along the riverbanks, often hesitating before attempting to cross. These moments can last minutes or hours, creating suspense and unforgettable wildlife drama. Crocodiles inhabit these waters, making each crossing a powerful demonstration of survival instinct and natural selection.

The afternoon is dedicated to exploring river areas where migration herds frequently gather. Your guide will position the vehicle strategically to maximise opportunities for witnessing crossing attempts while maintaining ethical wildlife viewing distance.

In the evening, you will arrive at your tented camp located within the migration corridor, where you can relax under the stars and reflect on the day’s extraordinary wildlife encounters.

Today is dedicated entirely to experiencing the Great Migration near the Mara River. After breakfast, you will depart for a full day game drive following the movement of the herds as they search for suitable crossing points. The migration is unpredictable, making every safari unique, as animals constantly respond to rainfall patterns, grass availability, and predator presence.

Travellers may witness thousands of wildebeest gathering near the riverbanks, communicating through instinct and group behaviour before attempting the crossing. The intensity of the crossing moment, combined with dramatic landscape scenery, creates one of the most memorable wildlife experiences in Africa.
